Railway gas cutting
Cutting thick plates with fire and oxygen.
Gas cutting is a processing method that heats the target to its ignition temperature and then blows high-purity oxygen onto that area to cut it. Basically, the target is limited to steel plates. It is a cutting method that utilizes the heat generated from the chemical reaction between iron and oxygen, and actual gas cutting is performed by simultaneously blowing preheating flames and cutting oxygen from the cutting nozzle. The characteristic of gas cutting lies in its ability to handle thickness, and at Sōtetsu, we always keep steel plates with thicknesses ranging from 32 to 200 mm in stock and are waiting for orders from customers with three gas cutting machines.
